Zamfara State is under the threat of banditry and kidnapping. Recently the marauders attacked Kuceri and Yandoton Daji communities in Tsafe local government area. In October 2024, at least 73 villagers were abducted in attacks on Buzugu and Rayau communities in Bukkuyum local government area of Zamfara State. According to reports by counter-insurgency sources, bandits stormed the villages in the night, taking dozens of residents hostage. Zamfara has become the epicentre of banditry in northern Nigeria, with local farmers and travelers frequently targeted.
