Lakurawa Bandits attacks and High Kidnapping Rate
High risk of roadside banditry and kidnapping. Worship and public places are no longer safe. In late July, 2026, bandits attacked a mosque in Tsamaye village of Sabon Birni LGA, reportedly killing at least 7 worshippers and abducting an unspecified number of people, including women and children. The state’s vulnerability to insecurity lies along the eastern corridor bordering Zamfara, Katsina, and the Republic of Niger.
