Nasarawa State, like other states in the North-central Nigeria, is prone to violent attack on soft targets. On December 30, 2025, militant herders reportedly attacked Akunza area of Ashige community in Lafia East Development Area in Nasarawa State. They Opened fire and killed 5 people, injuring scores of others.

The same day, it was reported that armed bandits attacked the parish house of St. Rita Catholic Church in the Unity Estate, Mararaba area of Nasarawa State.
