Yenagoa, the state capital, has been the hotbed of cult-related killings, armed robbery, and violence, particularly in areas like Amarata and Yenezue-Gene.  Sea piracy in Ekeremor, Southern Ijaw, and Ogbia areas is on the rise.  kidnapping for ransom is becoming rampant. In fact, there was a high-profile case involving the abduction of a judge recently in  Yenogoa.
